First time buyers inspections

Purchasing a new home is one of the biggest financial decisions we will ever make. Owning a home is also an important way for you to grow financially. This is why we make sure your investment is protected. At Meredith Inspections, we offer two separate first time buyer inspection services: pre-reception inspection and re-sale home inspection.

Pre-reception Inspection

In general, most new construction homes come with a one-year warranty. Buying a new home is different from buying a re-sale home. It is important to have your new constructed home-inspected prior to your move-in or within the first year. This approach allows for any minor or major repairs to be promptly corrected by the builder.

Key areas that are focused on in the pre-reception of a newly constructed home for the first time buyer are (but not limited to):
• Countertops
• Doors & Windows
• Electrical
• Fireplace (systems, flues, chimneys)
• Garage doors and garage door operators
• Heating and cooling systems
• Installed cabinets
• Plumbing
• Roof
• Interior and Exterior structures
• Foundation
We want to make sure that nothing is taken for granted or overlooked. We also understand the challenge of providing the adequate information that you will need to know how your new home will perform under typical occupancy.

Re-Sale Home Inspection

Naturally, buying a newly constructed home is not the same as buying a re-sale home. When purchasing a re-sale home, a professional home inspection is critical because it provides the new owner with a peace of mind. You will know what upfront costs you may have to incur for the upkeep and maintenance of your new home.

Crucial areas that are focused on in the pre-sale home inspection for the first time buyer are (but not limited to):
• Attic
• Doors & Windows
• Electrical
• Fireplace (flues & chimneys)
• Heating and cooling systems
• Plumbing
• Roof
• Interior and Exterior structures
• Foundation

We also recognise that many home buyers will be best served by working with a professional home inspector, but as well, with speciality inspection services. At Meredith Inspections, we partner with a number of qualified and dependable companies to complement your home inspection. These services target potential areas of concern, which are outside the regular extent of a standard home inspection. We offer infrared thermal imaging, drain camera inspections and additional specialty services.
